Schein: Da Jakob vollendet hatte

[Vocal Tuesday]
Johann Hermann Schein (1586 - 1630) was one of the most important early Baroque German composers. He was known for his use of Italian late Renaissance madrigalistic style. He wrote over 350 sacred works and near a hundred secular ones. Here is a motet 'Da Jakob vollendet hatte' from his 'Israelis Brünnlein', published in 1623. Translation of text: When Jacob had finished the instructions to his children, he drew up his feet into the bed and died; and was gathered to his people. Then Joseph fell upon his father's face and wept over him, and kissed him.
