Rameau: La Poule
Something refreshing and delightful for a Monday morning!
Jean-Philippe Rameau (1683 - 1764) was the most important French composer in the late baroque period. His 'Treatise on Harmony' laid down the cornerstones of theory in harmony as we know it today in the Western classical music tradition. This recording is an arrangement of 'La Poule' (The hen) from his Nouvelles suites de pièces de clavecin. Originally written only for the harpsichord, here it is performed by a solo recorder, strings, and harpsichord. The title of the piece gives it all - a clucking hen.
